Man arrested with 188 gemstones

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force arrested a 27-year-old man from Thamankaduwa, Gallella for possessing 118 stones believed to be gems.

The STF said that the raid was carried out on the Akkaraipattu main road following an intelligence tip received by the officials of the Kalavanchikudi camp.

Therefore, 188 stones of various colours suspected to be gems were seized from the possession of the suspect.

In addition, a Gemstone Testing and Identification device were taken into custody.
