COLOMBO (News 1st): Inspector General of Police (IGP) & Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya has instructed the implementation of a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety of tourists staying in the country.
A statement issued by the Police Media Division noted that all police stations have been informed to develop this security plan to cover a 24-hour period.
Accordingly, the IGP has issued instructions to ensure the protection of foreign nationals currently in the country, their property, their places of residence, tourist attractions, destinations, residential buildings, and the safety of individuals and property at religious centers.
The IGP further directed that these security measures be maintained until further notice to safeguard embassies, high commissions, official residences, and other related institutions and locations.
