Digital Services Disrupted as Fibre Optic Cables Damaged by Weather

The Ministry of Digital Economy reports that several areas, including Wattala and Kadugannawa, have experienced disruptions in communication due to damage to the fibre optic cable network caused by adverse weather.

Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne stated that the fibre optic cable system was damaged at four locations in the Wattala area, with repairs completed at three of these sites yesterday.

Repair work on the broken fibre cable in Kadugannawa began this morning.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister confirmed that a new fibre connection between Kaduwela and Dambulla will be established today to restore and improve connectivity.
