COLOMBO (News 1st) In response to the prevailing disaster situation, the Ministry of Health announced that the National Health Emergency Response Centre is now operating round the clock (24/7) to coordinate urgent health-related interventions across the country.
The centre aims to:
Facilitate rapid coordination between health authorities and relevant institutions.
Address critical health challenges arising from the ongoing emergency.
Provide immediate guidance and assistance to the public, healthcare workers, and organizations.
To strengthen public access, the ministry has introduced a dedicated emergency hotline – 1926, available 24 hours a day. Citizens are urged to use this number for:
Reporting health emergencies linked to the disaster.
Seeking medical advice and support.
Obtaining essential health-related information.
