COLOMBO(News 1st) - A meeting between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Damiano Francovigh, took place today (27) at the Presidential Secretariat.
During the discussion, Ambassador Francovigh reaffirmed the Italian government's support for Sri Lanka’s new administration in strengthening bilateral relations and advancing its economic initiatives.
The meeting also highlighted cooperation in the development of Sri Lanka’s tourism and investment sectors.
Furthermore, Ambassador Francovigh expressed hope for the prompt resolution of existing issues related to the working visa process for Sri Lankans in Sri Lanka who are expecting to migrate to Italy.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the Sri Lankan government would support the agreements currently being formulated to facilitate legal employment opportunities for Sri Lankan youth currently working in Italy and the youth expecting to migrate to Italy.
Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage, was also present at the discussion.
