Special Police Unit to Curb Air Mail Smuggling

Colombo (News 1st): A special police unit has been established at the Central Mail Exchange to intercept drugs being smuggled into the country via air mail.

Postmaster General P. Sathkumara said that the use of police dogs to assist in detecting these drugs, was also requested.

The measure follows multiple incidents reported of drugs being sent to Sri Lanka from foreign countries through the Central Mail Exchange.

The special police unit has been set up to enhance operations to seize such smuggled drugs.
