First Malaria related death reported in Sri Lanka after 14 years

The National Institute of Health Sciences of Kalutara says that after 14 years Sri Lanka reported a Malaria death.  

Thamara Kalubowila the Director of the National Institute of Health Sciences of Kalutara said that a resident of Beruwala, who had returned from overseas, had died from Malaria.

The Anti Malaria campaign said that 11 Malaria cases have been reported in Sri Lanka in the last 4 months of the year. 

Its Director Dr. Champa Aluthweera said that last year 37 Malaria patients were reported.

However she said compared to the first 4 months of last year, there has been an increase in malaria cases this year.
