Colombo (News 1st) - Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus staged a tremendous fightback to win the Australian Open Women's Singles title 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, her first Grand Slam Tennis Singles title.

Fifth-seeded Sabalenka had earlier won two Grand Slam Doubles titles, but never a singles title. She will now rise to number two in the world rankings with this win.

The crowd at Melbourne Park's Rod Laver Arena were kept on the edge of their seats as Wimbledon Champ Rybakina took the first set, followed by Sabalenka storming back to easily take the second, before the decisive final set went down to the wire.

Sabalenka received her trophy from tennis legend Billie Jean King.
