Prisoners allowed to taste home-cooked meal for Christmas

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Prisons Department has made arrangements for prisoners to have access to a parcel of rice/food brought by a relative or another person nominated by the prisoner for this Christmas except on Sundays from 23 - 27 December 2021. Prisons Commissioner and Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake told News 1st that Rs. 2,500 can be deposited at the relevant prison canteen for prisoners to have access to other food items such as milk powder, sugar, sweets meats, and hygiene care items. In addition, arrangements have been made to conduct religious services at prisons under the health guidelines during the Christmas period, the Prisons Headquarters further stated.
