IMF Team In Colombo; Set To Meet President

COLOMBO (News 1st); An International Monetary Fund team led by Peter Breuer is currently in Colombo.



A spokesperson for the IMF speaking to News 1st said that the team is on a staff visit to discuss recent economic developments and follow up on implementation of the targets of Sri Lanka’s economic reform program supported by the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility.



State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said that the IMF team will be meeting with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe today to discuss the country’s Extended Fund Facility.



Semasinghe, confirmed that this marks the beginning of a series of staff discussions aimed at securing financial support.



He also said that despite the ongoing election period, President Wickremesinghe has prioritized the implementation of agreements with the IMF.
