COLOMBO (News 1st) It has come to light that despite extensive investigations, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has not yet filed legal action against notorious drug trafficker and organized crime leader, Harak Kata, with regard to the smuggling over four thousand kilograms of heroin into Sri Lanka, from time to time.
The Acting Police Chief, during the meeting with CID officers, issued clear instructions to take immediate steps and prosecute Harak Kata for his alleged involvement in the large-scale heroin smuggling operation.
A senior police official confirmed that three CID teams have been assigned to investigate the matter, per the Acting Inspector General of Police's directive.
Harak Kata is currently in CID custody under Detention Orders, and is being interrogated by the detectives.
