Former Director of the Institute of National Security Studies Asanga Abeyagoonasekera has been released on bail

Colombo (News 1st) - Former Director of the Institute of National Security Studies Asanga Abeyagoonasekera

who was arrested at the BIA has been released on bail. 

Asanga Abeyagoonasekera was produced before the Negombo Magistrates Court today. 

He was released on two surities of Rs. 1 million rupees each. 

The case is to be taken up again on the 9th of August. 

Police said Asanga Abeyagoonasekera was arrested pursuant to an open warrant issued in connection with an action initiated by the Department of Inland Revenue. 

He was handed over to police custody after initially being apprehended by immigration and emigration department officials at the Airport. 

He was arrested while he was returning to Sri Lanka from Doha.
