Weather Advisory Issued on Heavy Showers for Parts of Sri Lanka

Showery and windy conditions are expected to enhance during the next few days from May18 evening due to pre-monsoonal conditions over the country and surrounding sea areas. According to the Met Department, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Southern provinces and in Mannar district. Heavy showers above 100mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in  Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

The National Building Research Organization extended the landslide warning issued to eight districts Badulla,Kalutara,Kandy,Kegalle,Kurunegala,Matale,Nuwara-Eliya,Ratnapura .

General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
