The Department of Meteorology predicted heavy showers of about 100mm at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces on Wednesday (15).
The Department said the showery condition is expected to continue further due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
The Met. Department predicted showers or thundershowers at several places in most provinces of the island after 1.00 p.m, with showers in the Western and Southern coastal areas during the morning as well.
The landslide warning issued in several divisional secretariats of four districts has been extended until 4pm on Wednesday (15).
The National Building Research Organization said landslide warnings were issued in the Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle and Ratnapura districts.
Accordingly landslide warnings were issued in the Ella, Hali-ela, Haputale, Haldummulla Divisional Secretariats of the Badulla District, and Udapalatha, Udunuwara, and Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariats of the Kandy District.
The NBRO said landslide warnings were also issued in the Yatiyanthota, Kegalle, Galigamuwa, Dehiowita, Warakapola, and Mawanella Divisional Secretariats in the Kegalle district and the Ratnapura, Kalawana, Imbulpe, and Balangoda Divisional Secretariats in the Ratnapura district.
