Russian Embassy Hosts Festive Concert to Commemorate Victory Day

COLOMBO (News 1st); On the occasion of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (June 22, 1941 - May 9, 1945) the Russian Embassy in collaboration with the Russian House in Colombo organized a festive concert.

The event was graced by Secretary to the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka, General Retd) Kamal Gunaratne.

Cchildren and professional musicians performed the Russian traditional and patriotic songs preserved and transferred from generation to generation.

On the margins of the event, certificates and diplomas were awarded to the participants of the International historical dictation on the theme of the Great Patriotic War "Victory Dictation".

In his address to the audience Russian Ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan outscored the significance of the Victory of the Soviet Union over the nazism in 1945 and meaningfulness of the battle with its newly emerged followers in Ukraine that is being conducted today by the Russian Armed Forces.
