COLOMBO (News 1st); The suspect connected to the shooting incident in Horana was apprehended last afternoon at the Katunayake Airport while attempting to flee the country.

Remarkably, this arrest occurred within a mere 24 hours of the shooting.

On Sunday morning, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle and carried out a shooting before fleeing the scene.

Later that afternoon, the same motorcycle was discovered abandoned near a field in the Lihini Araba area of Horana.

Authorities apprehended the suspect at Katunayake Airport while attempting to escape the country.

Remarkably, the airport’s automatic facial recognition system played a crucial role in identifying the suspect.

The arrested individual is a 31-year-old resident of Horana.

Interestingly, he had been scheduled to depart for Dubai later that evening.

Police suspect that his arrival in the country from Dubai on April 29 may have been connected to the crime itself.
