MPs & Ministers Rally for Tax-Free Vehicle Imports

COLOMBO (News 1st); Numerous Members of Parliament and ministers have approached the Speaker, urging him to permit tax-free vehicle imports.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena confirmed that he received a letter signed by both party and opposition members.

He further stated that he will formally present their request to President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Notably, the Speaker said that Members of Parliament have been barred from importing vehicles for a decade, while several ministers continue to rely on vehicles that are over 12 years old.
