Jobs in Israel: Scammer Arrested & Remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect who orchestrated a fraudulent scheme by promising employment opportunities in the agricultural sector in Israel was arrested.

The individual falsely claimed that he could secure jobs for interested parties. Following his arrest, he was presented before the Colombo No. 5 Magistrate Court, and was remanded to the 3rd of April.

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment revealed that the suspect defrauded nine individuals, resulting in a total loss of 7.6 million rupees.

His modus operandi involved using the names of high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment.

The suspect resides on Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo 07. Authorities are investigating the involvement of his wife in this illicit activity.

In light of this incident, the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment advises Sri Lankans to exercise caution and refrain from providing money to any person promising employment opportunities in Israel’s agricultural sector.

Sri Lankans are entitled to legitimate employment opportunities in Israel as per a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
