COLOMBO (News 1st); Six people were arrested for assaulting police officers in Mount Lavinia.
Sri Lanka Police said that the Sri Lanka Coast Guard on Sunday (24) evening received information that a group was swimming in a dangerous manner closed to the rocks at the Mount Lavinia beach.
Acting on the information given by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard, police officers had visited the location and advised the men to vacate the premises.
Sri Lanka Police said that at that moment, the group had verbally abused the police officers, and then assaulted them.
Thereafter, the men were arrested, and they are residents of Ratmalana, Piliyandala, and Ahungalle.
Two police officers who were injured in the assault were admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, and one of them was discharged after receiving treatment.
