COLOMBO (News 1st); The Union of Public Inspectors in Sri Lanka has issued a public warning today regarding a scam targeting shopkeepers.
Individuals posing as fake public inspectors are reportedly attempting to extort money by claiming to offer licenses for participation in food markets.
According to Roshan Kumara, an executive member of the Union, these imposters approach shopkeepers and demand payment under the guise of securing permits for entry into upcoming food markets.
Kumara urges all shopkeepers and individuals involved in the food market sector to be vigilant against such scams.
He advises not to engage with anyone claiming to represent public health authorities without verifying their credentials.
