Global Human Rights Day: Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All

Today marks the 75th International Human Rights Day, commemorating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948.

This year's theme, "Freedom, Equality and Justice for All," resonates with the core principles of the Declaration.

Coincidentally, the prestigious United Nations Prize and Nobel Peace Prize, awarded every five years, will also be awarded today, further highlighting the global commitment to human rights.

Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Chairman, Lalith Dehideniya, called for strengthened international cooperation in upholding human rights globally.
