54 types of essential medicines scheduled to be delivered to Sri Lanka

54 types of essential medicines, including those for cancer and kidney diseases, are scheduled to be delivered to Sri Lanka within the next week. 

A shipment of medicines valued at US$ 58,000 will also be received, Health Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.

Additionally, the Bangladesh Ministry of Health has pledged another million US dollars worth of medical aid to this country.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh conveyed this information during a meeting with the Minister of Health. 

The need for a long-term program between the governments of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for the procurement of medicines was also extensively discussed to address the current shortage of medicines in the country.
