COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Police Special Task Forces' SWAT teams have been praised by Dubai SWAT's Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of Organisations Protective Security and Emergency. at the UAE SWAT Challenge 2022, organized by Dubai Police.
Sri Lanka took part in the UAE SWAT Challenge for the first time.
Sri Lanka Police said that two SWAT teams led by ASP Keshara Ratnaweera represented Sri Lanka at the UAE SWAT Challenge 2022, where forty-one highly-trained teams from 24 countries testes their tactical and weapon skills at Al Rowaiyah Training City in Dubai.
The 3rd edition of SWAT Challenge witnessed fierce competition among 41 teams.
Lt. Yasser Al Zarouni, Director of the Dubai Police Team, said the challenge assesses tactical skills, mental focus, and physical endurance of the special task forces.
Sri Lanka Police said that 2 SWAT teams comprising of 20 highly trained SWAT officers competed against the best from 41 other nations, and their skills received high praise from leading global SWAT officers.
